UPDATED: Man Shot On Fort Wayne’s Southeast Side, Later Dies

3:25 PM UPDATE: This afternoon, the Allen County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 30 year old Melvin Palmer III and that he died as the result of his gunshot wounds as the result of a homicide.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Police are looking for clues after a man was found shot in southeast Fort Wayne.

Medics with TRAA were flagged down around 6:41 p.m. Thursday night at Winter St. and Rudisill Blvd., several blocks west of McMillen Park Golf Course.  They found a man shot inside of a car and listed him in serious condition.  He was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and Friday morning police announced the victim has died.

Witnesses on the scene gave police different accounts. Some witnesses pointed out they thought the shots came from a house a few blocks south of Rudisill Blvd. on Lillie Street. There were bullet holes in the house.   Other accounts say the suspects were seen fleeing in a vehicle from the area.  Police began to gather on the area along with the Emergency Services and Crisis Response Team.

When checking out the house on Lillie St., police questioned two people leaving through the back of the residence. They wouldn't confirm if any other people were inside, so police eventually gathered a search warrant and raided the house, but no one else was found.

As of now, no suspects have been named and the incident remains under investigation.
