FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ The National Weather Service reports Fort Wayne needs a little more than 2 inches of rain to set a record for the wettest summer on record.
The weather service says the northeast Indiana city has already received 16.62 inches of rain this summer and need only 2.19 inches more to set the record. The record was set in 1986, when the city received 18.7 inches of rain. The second wettest was 1958 with 18.57.
The weather service says this summer already is the sixth wettest ever.
