Woman hit by train identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman who was killed after being hit by a train Sunday has been identified.

40-year-old Stacy Lynn Carpenter was walking near the train tracks at the area of Hanna and Berry streets Sunday when she was hit by a train at about 2:45pm. She died at the scene.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office has ruled her death an accident. Another pedestrian was with her at the time of the accident but was apparently unhurt.

The incident remains under investigation by both Fort Wayne and Norfolk Southern Police.
