BLACKFORD COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A stretch of State Road 3 in Blackford County will close next week as crews replace multiple culverts between Hartford City and State Road 18.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the closure is scheduled to begin on or after June 22. Construction crews will be working on several culvert replacement projects along the roadway, with work expected to be completed by the end of the week, weather permitting.
The closure will affect traffic traveling between Hartford City and the junction of State Road 18. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time while the work is underway.
During the closure, INDOT has established an official detour route using State Road 26, State Road 22, State Road 5 and State Road 18. Drivers may also choose alternate local routes if available.
INDOT reminds motorists to use caution when traveling near construction zones by reducing speed, remaining alert for workers and equipment, and avoiding distractions behind the wheel.
The agency notes that all construction schedules are weather-dependent and could change if conditions warrant.
Motorists can stay informed about road closures, traffic conditions and travel alerts through the TrafficWise website at 511in.org, the INDOT Northeast District social media channels, or the state’s mobile traffic application.
The culvert replacement project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure across northeast Indiana.
