Alleged Smoke House Shooter Pleads Guilty

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – A man accused of a shooting and killing the owner of a Fort Wayne tobacco store may not go to trial.

In Allen Superior Court today, 22-year-old Jamel Coleman pleaded guilty to murder and robbery in the April shooting of Antonio Lopez Nino at the Smoke House on South Lafayette Street. During the robbery, according to court documents, the two wrestled with Coleman using Nino's gun to kill him.

The plea agreement still needs to be accepted, but Coleman could be get 60 years in prison.

The trial was originally scheduled to begin next week.
