GRABILL, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a young man has died and a 17-year-old boy was injured in an off-road vehicle crash in northeastern Indiana.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the crash happened Thursday evening near Grabill in Allen County when the vehicle went off a roadway and hit a utility pole.

The department says 18-year-old Paul Schmucker Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene and the 17-year-old was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. Authorities say they weren’t wearing protective gear.

The crash is under investigation.
