MICHIGAN, (WOWO) — Consumers Energy customers in Michigan will see higher heating bills starting in November according to Bridge Michigan.
State regulators approved a $157.5 million rate hike, raising the average monthly bill by $6.44 – about 8%.
Consumers says the money will help upgrade gas lines and improve safety.
But Attorney General Dana Nessel criticized the increase, saying it’s far higher than her office recommended and places too much burden on families.
