FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Public Market is the newest tenant for the Electric Works project.

The farmer’s market was announced Monday in the former GE Club. This project is a nonprofit collaboration between Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI), the Fort Wayne Farmer’s Market, and the City of Fort Wayne’s Public Market Taskforce.

Currently, the YLNI Market and Fort Wayne Farmers Market are open on Saturdays during the summer at Wayne and Barr streets.

The board of Fort Wayne Public Market says Electric Works’ features including being centrally located, easily accessible, and flexibility are reasons for the choice.

Both existing markets will continue to operate independently until this September at Barr Street.

Electric Works includes the 39 acres of the old GE plant and will be a mixed-use public/private partnership between RTM Ventures and the city of Fort Wayne.
